Different
Outsider,
Strange as the hairless pale hide that I wear,
Different (he's not ape)
Outsider (not kin)
I crawled from the jungle the day they took me in,
Different (Kerchak won't look at me)
Outsider (he turns away)
I'm a shadow that follows the troop every day,
Different (not strong like them)
Outsider (not fast, not the same)
A creature with no herd and no name

Born in a wreck,
Raised in the trees,
Caught between worlds, never quite at ease,
Let me climb,
Let me run,
But I'll never be ape and I'll never be one—

'Cause I'm not one of them,
And I'm not one of you,
I'm a heart split in two,
On the edge looking in,
I've got my mother's eyes
And the wild in my skin,
So tell me where does a lost boy begin
When he's never been one of them,
And never been one of you?

And I am not one of them,
I have never been one of them,
I am not part of them,
Not their kind,
Kala still holds me close,
But the doubt's hard to hide,
For they see what I am when they look in my face—
A stranger who'll never quite fit in this place

Two hands, two worlds,
Both of them mine,
A foot in the canopy, a foot crossing time,
The mirror shows skin like the man on the shore,
But my heart beats in time with the jungle's roar

'Cause I'm not one of them,
And I'm not one of you,
I'm a heart split in two,
On the edge looking in,
But maybe I don't have to choose where I've been —
I can be one of them,
And still be one of you,
Both halves beating true...
Different,
Outsider,
Mmm-mmm-mmm... not the same,
But finally — I know my name

Tarzan.
...Son of Kala. Son of man.
Both.
